Focus must be on stopping war, protecting civilians, delivering aid, says FM

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, received Sunday a phone call from High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell. The two officials discussed the dangerous deterioration in the Gaza Strip, its repercussions, and ways to end it. Safadi said that the focus must now be clearly on stopping the war on Gaza, protecting civilians, and delivering humanitarian aid to the besieged enclave. Safadi warned that the continuation of the war and the lack of international demands to stop it are creating a popular impression that this is a Western-Arab-Islamic war. In addition, the forein minister and discussed with the World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director Cindy H. McCain efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, and the cooperation between Jordan and the program on these efforts. They agreed to maintain coordination to deliver aid as quickly as possible. They also lauded the deep existing cooperation mechanisms, and the continuation of consultation and cooperation on ways to develop them to ensure the prompt and effective delivery of aid.
