Forbes Middle East Summit Highlights Youth and Technology in Advancing Sustainable Economies

Abu dhabi: Forbes Middle East recently concluded its third Sustainability Leaders Summit, emphasizing the integral role of youth and technology in fostering a sustainable economy. The event, chaired by Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE’s Minister of Climate Change and Environment, was held at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi, themed ‘Guided by Legacy, Committed to Sustainability’.

According to Emirates News Agency, the summit, organized in collaboration with the UAE’s Minister of Climate Change and Environment and several strategic partners, underscored the UAE’s leadership in climate action and the transition to a green economy. Key partners included the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, Zayed Sustainability Prize, Zayed Authority for People of Determination, and NMDC Group as the presenting partner.

The concluding day of the summit witnessed participation from leaders and experts across various sectors, alongside representatives from major government institutions. Notable attendees included Shaikh Dr. Majid Sultan AlQassimi, Abdulla Abdulalee Abdulla Al Humaidan, Eng. Amal Abdulrahim, Ahmed Esmaeil Alsayed Alhashmi, and others, who gathered to discuss the UAE’s commitment to sustainability and the integration of technology in achieving economic and social progress.

Shaikh Dr. Majid Sultan AlQassimi highlighted the importance of leadership in action, stating the summit served as a platform to enhance commitment to sustainable initiatives. Abdullah Abdulali Al Humaidan emphasized the UAE’s dedication to a human-centered sustainability model, inspired by the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, which promotes inclusion and quality of life for all.

Khuloud Al Omian, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Middle East, reiterated the summit’s success in aligning leaders and innovators toward a future driven by green technology and collaboration. She emphasized the role of the summit in reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a global center for climate dialogue and action.

Eng. Yasser Zaghloul of NMDC Group emphasized the importance of sustainability and innovation in their operations, noting the summit’s role in uniting government, industry, and youth around the shared goal of a sustainable future.

The summit’s second day focused on technology and artificial intelligence’s impact on climate change, smart cities, and sustainable urban planning. Discussions highlighted the importance of youth in bridging public and private sectors for green development and showcased youth-led initiatives promoting sustainable consumption.

Workshops during the summit, such as ‘The Power of Community: Building Sustainable Impact Through Digital Influence’, allowed participants to engage in sustainable practices and foster creativity. The event concluded with a call to accelerate the transition to a sustainable economy, highlighting Abu Dhabi as a regional hub for climate action and economic growth.
