GCC-EU Summit in Riyadh Rescheduled Due to Security Concerns

Riyadh:The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, has announced the rescheduling of the GCC-EU Summit. Originally set to take place in Riyadh on October 24, 2026, the summit will now be held at a later date to be determined by both the GCC and European sides.

According to Emirates News Agency, the decision was prompted by ongoing threats from the terrorist Houthi group targeting Saudi Arabia and its civilian infrastructure. These threats pose a risk to the security and safety of civilians and have led to the continued suspension of operations at King Khalid International Airport. The rescheduling aims to ensure the safety of the participating delegations.

In a statement from the GCC General Secretariat, Albudaiwi emphasized the commitment of the GCC and the European Union to establish favorable conditions for holding the summit. This effort is part of their long-term objectives to enhance cooperation between the member states of both organizations and to foster growth and prosperity for their countries and peoples.
