Luanda: In the presence of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President of the Republic of Angola, Joo Louren§o, the General Women’s Union (GWU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Angola’s Ministry of Social Action, Family, and Women’s Promotion (MASFAMU). This significant agreement took place on the sidelines of Sheikh Mohamed’s state visit to Angola, symbolizing the robust strategic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and Angola.
According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed by Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, Minister of Social Action, Family, and Women’s Promotion in Angola, and Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the General Women’s Union. The agreement seeks to enhance cooperation between the two entities by initiating joint programs and projects in various fields, including education, science, economy, health, and the environment. It also aims to support women’s economic well-being and facilitate the exchange of ideas and expertise on programs that empower women professionally, thereby opening broader opportunities for them to excel and lead in their respective workplaces.
On this occasion, Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi expressed that the signing of this MoU aligns with the directives of the UAE’s wise leadership and H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, known as the Mother of the Nation, who is the Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation. Al Suwaidi further emphasized that these directives aim to enhance the support and empowerment of women both locally and internationally, while also expanding cooperation with friendly nations.
Al Suwaidi highlighted that this cooperation reflects the UAE’s commitment to promoting the role of women on a global scale, solidifying their position as key partners in development, and serving as an inspiring model of influence and creativity.
