Global Energy Leaders Rally for Innovation and Collaboration at ADIPEC 2024.


Abu Dhabi: ADIPEC 2024 commenced, celebrating four decades of energy leadership under the theme “Connecting Minds. Transforming Energy.” Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, delivered the keynote address, urging the energy sector to spearhead sustainable socioeconomic growth by capitalizing on global megatrends.

According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Al Jaber identified three transformative megatrends: the rise of the global south and emerging markets, the transformation of energy systems, and the exponential growth of Artificial Intelligence. He emphasized that these trends present significant opportunities, necessitating unprecedented cross-sectoral integration and collaboration to accelerate sustainable growth.

The event, scheduled from November 4-7 in Abu Dhabi, anticipates attendance from over 184,000 participants, including more than 40 ministers and 200 global C-suite executives. Over 1,800 speakers will contribute to 3
70-plus conference sessions, addressing key energy transition priorities and emphasizing the adoption of transformative solutions like artificial intelligence.

ADIPEC’s commitment to fostering innovation and cross-border collaboration was highlighted during its first Ministerial Panel, which focused on policy and cross-border cooperation’s role in the energy transition and climate technology access. Insights were shared by ministers from the UAE, India, Uganda, and Egypt, who discussed the importance of investing in diverse energy resources.

Private sector leaders also contributed, exploring the challenges of balancing business priorities with climate change realities. Executives from major energy companies highlighted their strategies for meeting global energy demand while transitioning to low-carbon systems, emphasizing the need for diversified energy forms and decarbonizing existing assets.

International energy organizations underscored the importance of global cooperation and energy diplomacy in achiev
ing wide-scale decarbonization. The Finance and Investment Conference provided a platform to address capital flow disparities and the investment required for an equitable energy transition, encouraging financial collaboration for infrastructure and technology advancement.

AI remained a central focus, with the introduction of the AI Zone at ADIPEC 2024, showcasing its potential to revolutionize energy systems, enhance grid resilience, and unlock new investment opportunities. ADIPEC continues to serve as a critical platform for accelerating innovation and collaboration in the global energy transition.
