Global technology companies commend UAE’s pioneering role in promoting AI, technology

DUBAI: Global technology companies have praised the UAE’s strategic initiatives to adopt and implement artificial intelligence (AI) on a wide scale, recognising the UAE as a model for integrating modern technology into both the public and private sectors, thereby contributing to sustainable development and innovation.

The companies, in statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), confirmed that the UAE supports digital transformation across various sectors, commending the leadership’s efforts in laying the groundwork for enhancing the use of artificial intelligence and technology, which strengthens its position as a global technological leader.

Adrian Beckering, Regional Director of Redhat Company in the Middle East and North Africa, emphasised the pivotal role the UAE plays in adopting artificial intelligence technologies at the government and institutional levels, praising the leadership’s efforts in establishing the necessary foundations to promote the use of AI in the public sector. He asserted that th
ese efforts represent a qualitative leap in the nation’s digital transformation.

He added, ‘At Red Hat, we work alongside numerous government entities in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and at the federal level to develop technology solutions based on artificial intelligence. Through our partnerships with various ministries and departments, we strive to enhance the quality of services provided to citizens and expedite access to them.’

He highlighted the importance of developing local competencies, stressing that Red Hat collaborates with the government to provide the necessary skills and expertise for Emirati youth through specialised academic programmes aimed at empowering national cadres to implement AI plans and develop advanced solutions across various sectors.

He affirmed that there is ample opportunity for both global and local companies to benefit from the growing UAE market, expressing Red Hat’s commitment to achieving sustainability through AI projects, mentioning collaboration with government entities to impro
ve traffic management and reduce carbon emissions, in addition to exploring smart solutions in city and building management.

Fadi Abou Shamat, Senior Director and Head of Mobile eXperience division at Samsung Gulf Electronics, stated that Samsung’s presence in the UAE presents a unique opportunity for the company due to the alignment between the UAE’s strategy in artificial intelligence and technology and Samsung’s global strategy.

He added, ‘We are grateful for the existence of a dedicated ministry for artificial intelligence in the UAE, making it the ideal place to expand the applications of AI.’

Fadi Abou Shamat noted that Samsung is leveraging the supportive environment in the UAE to expand its technological initiatives, explaining, ‘We have the Galaxy AI Pioneer initiative, which aims to train the new generation of users and provide smart solutions based on artificial intelligence. This would not have been possible without the significant support we receive from the state.’

He also addressed Samsung’
s environmental sustainability efforts, stating that the company has made significant progress in reducing plastic use in its products and replacing it with recycled materials. He affirmed, ‘We place sustainability at the core of our strategy and consider it part of our corporate identity, with the UAE supporting us in achieving this.’

Regarding the future of artificial intelligence, he explained that Samsung is working closely with the UAE government to support the Arabic language in AI technologies, adding, ‘We successfully launched support for the Arabic language in AI-powered devices, which was a significant event in June 2024. We are proud to be the first company to support this initiative.’

He concluded by thanking the UAE for its continued support, affirming that the future holds more innovations and collaborations in the field of artificial intelligence.
