DUBAI: The Board of Trustees of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) convened for its inaugural meeting of the 2024/2025 academic year, under the leadership of Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, alongside other esteemed board members. The meeting’s agenda centered around initiatives designed to enhance the university’s performance and attain its strategic and academic goals, with a focus on developing educational programs and fortifying impactful partnerships that contribute to sustainable development. Notably, the university reported a 56 percent increase in the number of learners in 2024 compared to 2021.
According to Emirates News Agency, Mattar Al Tayer reiterated the Board of Trustees’ commitment to propelling the university towards becoming a global frontrunner in smart education and scientific research. ‘This includes promoting quality and excellence, fostering creativity and innovation in curricula, and enhancing its role as a catalyst for a more efficient educat
ional system that meets current global demands and future needs,’ he stated. Al Tayer emphasized the university’s dedication to providing a stimulating and forward-looking educational environment that aligns with the UAE’s vision for sustainable development, equipping learners with the necessary knowledge and skills to tackle future challenges.
The meeting also examined various projects undertaken by the board in recent times, focusing on curriculum development, expanding the range of study programs, and emphasizing quality and innovation as central components in these processes. Additionally, the comprehensive strategic partnership plan for the forthcoming academic year was reviewed, aiming to expand collaboration with academic and research institutions both locally and globally to enrich the learning experience for students, engaging them in modern research and international best practices.
Discussions during the meeting also addressed steps taken to enhance partnerships with the private sector, deemed es
sential for providing training and employment opportunities for students. Furthermore, the board deliberated on recent developments, mechanisms for improving institutional performance, and fostering innovation and creativity among staff and faculty members.
