Health Transformation Reveals Key Figures in Healthcare Sector’s Support for Pilgrims

Riyadh, The Health Sector Transformation Program, a key component of the Saudi Vision 2030, emphasized that the integrated health efforts across various government sectors successfully provided healthcare for pilgrims during this year’s Hajj season 1445 AH.

Since the beginning of the season, the health sector has served the crowds of pilgrims, numbering over 1.8 million this year. It has delivered healthcare to more than 390,000 individuals through 189 hospitals, health centers, mobile clinics, 370 fully equipped ambulances, 7 air ambulances, and 5 medical evacuation aircraft from the Ministry of Defense. More than 40,000 medical, administrative, and technical staff, along with over 159 field staff, have worked to serve pilgrims and ensure the continuous delivery of medical supplies.

The program highlighted that over 5,000 volunteers from the Health Volunteering Center participated during the season. Awareness and guidance messages about food and medicine were provided in nine languages, complemented by the
efforts of numerous mobile units for infectious diseases in the holy sites.

The Health Sector Transformation Program confirmed that the Virtual Health Hospital played a prominent role in the Hajj season by remotely serving more than 5,800 pilgrims. Surgical procedures performed for pilgrims since the beginning of the season have included at least 28 open-heart surgeries, more than 720 cardiac catheterizations, and over 1,169 dialysis sessions.

These efforts demonstrate the Kingdom’s leadership’s commitment to the safety and health of pilgrims and the alignment of the health system with the aspirations of the Saudi Vision 2030 and the Health Sector Transformation Program, which prioritizes human health through collaborative health transformation initiatives with government agencies.
