ICAO Global Seminar and Sustainable Aviation Market Conclude Successfully in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: The Fourth ICAO Global Seminar on Implementation Support 2025 and the inaugural UAE initiative, "Global Sustainable Aviation Market," concluded yesterday in Abu Dhabi. The event was marked by robust participation, including 30 discussion sessions and interactive workshops, featuring 135 prominent speakers, 51 exhibitors, 36 organizational partners, and 2,135 professionals from the aviation, energy, and technology sectors.

According to Emirates News Agency, Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), emphasized the significance of the strong international participation, which underscores a global commitment to advancing a sustainable aviation system. He pointed out the record ministerial involvement compared to previous sessions as an indication of international consensus on the need to expedite the production and financing of sustainable aviation fuel globally, aligning with ICAO's objective of "leaving no country behind."

Al Suwaidi also highlighted that the events saw the signing of 36 bilateral and multilateral agreements, covering government cooperation programs and commercial and investment partnerships. Notably, two agreements were established between the GCAA and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to collaborate on research and development for the "Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Aviation Award," valued at US$1 million, and to support the empowerment of the "next generation of aviation professionals."

Further, the GCAA signed nine cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding with countries such as Jordan, Libya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Kazakhstan. These agreements aim to foster expertise exchange, improve air transport services, and develop training programs. ICAO also signed 19 agreements with participating countries to enhance the international civil aviation system.

The accompanying exhibition showcased five commercial and investment partnerships among companies specializing in electric aircraft development, vertical airport infrastructure, and other sectors contributing to the shift towards more sustainable aviation.
