Interest-free loans to be granted to FMD-affected livestock farmers-ACC

Board of Directors of the Agricultural Credit Corporation (ACC) approved a decision to grant interest-free loans to cow breeders, whose farms were affected by foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) this year. In a statement on Sunday, ACC Director General, Mohammad Dujan, said its directors board, headed by Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat, decided to grant interest-free loans to cow breeders, whose farms were affected by FMD in 2023. This decision comes as a continuation of the ministry’s measures in this regard, from the beginning of the FMD outbreak until efforts curbed its spread, in compliance with the ACC’s role in supporting the sector and providing the necessary cash to farmers, the statement noted. According to this decision, loan value was set at a higher ceiling up to JD40,000, based on the damage extent to the affected farms, to help farmers purchase the necessary production requirements and contribute to paying costs to import cows from abroad, within the permitted rates.
