Interior Minister: Jordan remains stable amid regional turmoil

Interior Minister Mazen Faraya said on Saturday Jordan remained strong and stable despite the challenges posed by regional turmoil, noting his ministry’s role in promoting the national economy. In a panel discussion held by the Jordan Economic Forum on the ministry’s role in supporting the economy with the participation of parliament members, Faraya gave an overview of his ministry’s economic contributions, including the visa e-service to help attract more investments to the Kingdom. He also cited accrediting the US and Schengen visas for entry to Jordan along with issuing 5-year visas, noting the ministry’s switch to digital services to facilitate the issuance and extension of residence permits for investors and their families. The interior minister also referred to facilities offered to tour companies to help Syrian refugees in Europe, the US and Canada to reunite with their families in Syria and stay with them in Jordan for one month, adding that more than 45,000 Syrians in western countries have visited the Kingdom this year. He also spoke about the ministry’s efforts to fight racketeering.
