The International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) has condemned the attacks of the Houthi terrorist militia on civilians targets in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
In its final communique at the end of two-day meeting of the 9th Session, the IPTP reiterated its commitment to the values of tolerance and peace and its full respect for the United Nations (UN) Charter while condemning serious violations of all human rights during conflicts that threaten humanity.
It also highlighted the high importance of reaching diplomatic solutions to the most urgent international humanitarian and security issues and welcomed all efforts aimed at reaching negotiated solution to the military conflict in Ukraine.
The session’s participants agreed to strengthen their cooperation in promoting the values of tolerance and peace and addressing incitements of violence while calling for peace via immediate diplomatic solutions.
They called for establishing parliamentary forums whose primary objectives are to spread tolerance and peace around the world, increase countries’ investments in sustainable development, and recognise cultural pluralism based on interfaith and interethnic dialogue for solidarity and tolerance among all people, regardless of race, color or religion.
They also appreciated the Federal National Council (FNC) as a ”role model” for promoting values of peace and tolerance and heightening awareness about climate change to ensure safety of ecosystems.
The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace held the 9th session of the IPTP, chaired by Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Council, and Margarita Restrepo, President of the Parliament, at the headquarters of the Federal National Council (FNC) on 26th and 27th March.
The session, inaugurated by Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the FNC, was attended by the speakers of over 60 parliaments, as well as ambassadors and diplomats.
The council, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, and in the presence of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, held an international conference, titled, “The Role of Parliaments and International Organisations in Strengthening the Values of Tolerance and Coexistence,” at Expo 2020 Dubai.
