Iraqi Prime Minister Receives Delegation of Shura Council


The Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, received the delegation from the Saudi-Iraqi Parliamentary Friendship Committee of the Shura Council. Leading this delegation was a Member of the Shura Council and Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Qannas. The meeting took place in the presence of the Saudi Ambassador to the Republic of Iraq, Abdulaziz Al-Shammari.



Prime Minister Al-Sudani expressed his sincere welcome to the delegation, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the bonds between these two nations. He stressed the need for robust partnerships across various sectors to bolster the already strong bilateral relations.



The Chairman of the Saudi-Iraqi Parliamentary Friendship Committee, Dr. Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Qannas, underscored the profound depth of relations between the Kingdom and Iraq, highlighting their multifaceted nature.



The delegation also had the honour of meeting with the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Dr. Mohammed Ali Tamim. He expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in assisting Iraq across various domains, emphasizing the high value placed on this support by the Iraqi government.



Further engagements took place with the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul Ghani, where discussions revolved around matters of mutual concern. He emphasized the robustness of Saudi-Iraqi relations.



In addition, the delegation convened with the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel, where a range of shared interests were discussed, particularly in the field of electricity. Both sides stressed the importance of fostering bilateral cooperation in this sector.



The delegation also had a productive meeting with the Iraqi Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Al-Mubarqa. They delved into topics related to youth and sports, emphasizing the significance of enhancing collaborative efforts and bilateral cooperation in these domains. The importance of increased cooperation between sports federations and Olympic committees was also stressed.



The Shura Council delegation had a fruitful meeting with the Head of the Iraqi National Investment Commission, Haidar Muhammad Makiya. They engaged in discussions on various issues and highlighted the paramount importance of joint efforts to enhance cooperation in the realm of investment across all sectors.



These meetings were attended by the Saudi Ambassador to the Republic of Iraq, Abdulaziz Al-Shammari, as well as the Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Friendship Committee in the Iraqi House of Representatives and several of its members.
