Burgenstock: The first session of high-level talks under the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has successfully concluded in Burgenstock, Switzerland. The talks witnessed the participation of representatives from the Islamic Republic of Iran, the United States of America, along with the mediating parties, the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. According to Emirates News Agency, Qatar and Pakistan issued a joint statement highlighting the outcomes of the first session of high-level talks. The statement emphasized that, based on the Memorandum of Understanding, the parties have agreed to establish a High Level Committee to provide political oversight on the mediation process. Chief negotiators are set to report regularly to this committee and will lead working groups focusing on nuclear issues, sanctions, and a monitoring and dispute resolution group to ensure the effective implementation of the MoU. The statement further elaborated on the formation of a communication li ne between the parties, aimed at avoiding incidents and miscommunication, particularly to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. This measure is in accordance with the period specified in paragraph 5 of the MoU. Additionally, the parties consented to the creation of a de-confliction cell, which involves the parties, the Lebanese Republic, and facilitation by the mediators. This cell is designed to ensure adherence to the termination of military operations in Lebanon as stipulated in the MoU.
