The Chairman of the Independent Election Commission (IEC), Musa Maaytah, met in Cairo Tuesday with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
According to the commission’s statement, the meeting was on the sidelines of Jordan’s participation in the Arab Electoral Administrations Forum at the Arab League HQ in Cairo.
As the head of the Arab Organisation for Electoral Administrations, Maaytah spoke about the forum role entitled “Media and Elections,” adding that the forum embodied the role of the Arab League as an umbrella for participatory work and the promotion of Arab cooperation.
He noted that the forum achieved its desired goals by expanding the horizons of cooperation with electoral administrations and learning about their experiences dealing with the media throughout the electoral process.
In turn, Aboul Gheit welcomed the developing relations and cooperation with Arab electoral administrations, noting Jordan’s role in the region and supporting joint Arab work.
