Jordan is vital partner in integrated industrial partnership, says UAE official

Jordan is a strategic partner in the integrated industrial partnership for sustainable economic development, which brings together the UAE, Jordan, Egypt, and Bahrain, said Abdullah Sami Al-Shamsi, Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Growth Sector at UAE’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MIAT). The partnership was established about a year ago in Abu Dhabi with the backing of participating countries. Speaking during a workshop organized by the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply, in cooperation with the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry and the MIAT to introduce the integrated industrial partnership project between the four nations, Al-Shamsi underscored that the UAE focuses on concluding qualitative strategic and investment partnerships; and promoting sustainable industrial growth, indicating that such a partnership aims at providing a new model for economic cooperation in the Arab region. Furthermore, he highlighted that the participating countries proposed 58 industrial projects, and signed 12 partnership agreements during the recent meeting of the Higher Committee for Partnership last February in Amman. In addition, he expected that more collaborations will be formed in the upcoming period. For her part, Assistant Secretary-General of the Kingom’s Ministry of Industry, Yasmine Khreisat, said that the gathering seeks to acquaint the private sector with the partnership’s objectives and financing goals; and familiarize the Jordanian industrial sector with the integrated industrial partnership and the opportunities that could offer to both Jordan and the participating nations. The workshop also aims at facilitating collaborative investments and fostering industrial integration that supports self-sufficiency and economic diversity, Khreisat also noted. According to a statement by the Chamber of Industry on Sunday, the participants presented the outcomes of the higher committees’ meetings held in the UAE, Egypt, and Jordan, which resulted in agreements in several sectors, entailing pharmaceuticals, food, chemicals, and automobiles.
