Jordan visitors up to ‘record’ 3.7mln within 1st 7 months 2023-Ministry

Number of visitors to the Kingdom during the first 7 months of 2023 saw a “remarkable” rise and “unprecedented” levels, reaching a total of about 3,720,259 tourists, marking an uptick of 51.3%, compared to the same period last year, Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said. In its monthly bulletin, the ministry showed an increase in the number of overnight tourists during the January-July period 2023, by 47%, compared to the same period last year, which amounted to 3,85,145 guests. Overnight tourists from Asian countries achieved a “remarkable” uptick during the first 7 months of 2023, by 145.9%, compared to the same period last year, which is the “highest” rate achieved at the level of region-based overnight tourists. Moreover, the bulletin revealed an increase in overnight tourists from European countries during the first 7 months of 2023, by 85.8%, followed by American nations, which achieved an uptick of 78.1%. During last July, a total of 694,207 tourists visited the Kingdom, constituting an increase of 21.7%, compared to the same month last year. According to data issued by the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ), tourism income during the first half of 2023 grew by 59.4%, compared to the same period last year, amounting to about JD2.450 billion.
