Dubai: The fifth round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship is set to commence on Saturday, focusing on no-gi competitions. This round will be held from August 16th to 17th, 2025, at Al Nasr Club in Dubai, drawing nearly 1,000 male athletes from various clubs and academies across the UAE.
According to Emirates News Agency, the championship is organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and will showcase high-level contests across all divisions. The event will kick off with matches in the under-12, under-14, and under-16 categories on the first day. The subsequent day will feature contests in the under-18, adult, and master divisions.
Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, emphasized that no-gi competitions bring out new aspects of athletes’ skills, encouraging innovative techniques. This approach supports the federation’s efforts in developing and refining athletes’ abilities.
The no-gi category provides a different challenge compared to traditional gi competitions, focusing on speed, physical fitness, and tactical skill. This dynamic aspect enhances the audience’s experience and adds an exciting character to the event.
Al Dhaheri further stated that since its inception, the championship has been instrumental in nurturing strong generations both mentally and physically. It has played a crucial role in advancing jiu-jitsu in the UAE, propelling it to new heights of excellence.
