Khalifa University Showcases UAE-Led Innovations at Abu Dhabi Global Health Week


Abu Dhabi: Khalifa University of Science and Technology’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) is taking part in the Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week (ADGHW) 2025, organized by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi. This participation highlights the university’s contributions to life sciences and translational medicine.



According to Emirates News Agency, the university is set to showcase a range of advanced research initiatives and national health programmes that align with the event’s emphasis on healthy aging and precision health. Professor Habiba Alsafar, Dean of CMHS, is scheduled to speak on the first day in a panel titled ‘Novel Therapeutic Strategies for Healthy Longevity,’ moderated by Dr. Mira Mousa, Assistant Professor of Public Health and Epidemiology.



Professor Alsafar expressed that participating in ADGHW 2025 underscores Khalifa University’s ongoing commitment to global collaboration and innovation. The contributions from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences highlight the university’s significant role in shaping the future of UAE’s healthcare through science and community engagement.



Among the innovations to be presented by Khalifa University are ‘CareX’, an AI-powered system for remote diagnosis and chronic disease management, and ‘3D-printed polymeric knee implants’ that replicate human bone, a pioneering achievement in UAE biomedical design. The university is also exploring neurodegenerative diseases in children with autism spectrum disorder.



Additionally, the Emirati Reference Genome Project, aimed at creating a population-specific genome for the UAE, will be featured. Other projects include a One Health genomics study on antimicrobial resistance, exploring the anti-diabetic properties of camel milk, and the Maternal and Infant Health Monitoring System, implemented in 18 hospitals across Abu Dhabi. Other highlights include FallGuard, a real-time fall detection device, Bioelectronic Chips for precision diagnostics, and IGenRare, an AI tool for diagnosing rare diseases.



With the introduction of new PhD programmes, expanded master’s courses, ISO-accredited labs, and a growing number of biotech startups, Khalifa University’s CMHS continues to influence the UAE’s research and innovation landscape.
