Makkah Municipality Ready with Preparations for Cleanliness Operations at Holy Sites


Makkah: The Municipality of Makkah announced that it has completed all preparations to receive pilgrims for this year’s Hajj season with advanced technologies to maintain cleanliness at the holy sites.

To ensure cleanliness, a 24-hour cleaning regime is in operation, utilizing state-of-the-art sanitation vehicles and a large fleet of waste management resources. Deputy Mayor of Makkah Municipality for Services, Eng. Mazen Al-Otaibi, emphasized the municipality’s commitment to improving cleaning operations. He noted that electrical waste compactor boxes and ground storage facilities have been installed for this purpose.

The municipality has prepared more than 1,100 compactor boxes, each with a storage capacity of over 8 tons of waste, along with more than 110 ground warehouses, 9 large compactor trucks, and 4 transition stations. The expected amount of waste is projected to exceed 30,000 tons. Al-Otaibi also mentioned that about 87,000 containers of different sizes have been distributed throughout the holy si
tes, supported by the recruitment of over 13,000 professionals dedicated to maintaining cleanliness in Makkah and the surrounding areas.
