Maktoum Bin Mohammed Approves New Judges and Development Plans at Dubai Judicial Council Meeting

Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, and Chairman of the Dubai Judicial Council, presided over a meeting of the Dubai Judicial Council. The meeting is part of Sheikh Maktoum's ongoing efforts to oversee Dubai's judicial initiatives aimed at promoting integrity, transparency, and the rule of law.

According to Emirates News Agency, during the meeting held at his office, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum approved the appointment of new judges at Dubai Courts and the 2025 training and development plan for members of the judicial authority. This move underscores his commitment to equipping judges and public prosecutors, particularly young professionals, with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their roles, which are crucial for social progress and stability.

Sheikh Maktoum also sanctioned procedures to extend the service of judicial authority members who have reached retirement age, ensuring that the judiciary continues to benefit from their expertise and retains exceptional talents. The meeting reviewed a statistical report from the Judicial Council's General Secretariat, which highlighted progress since its restructuring in 2021. Over four years, 223 studies were completed, focusing on research, legislative, and developmental areas.

The report noted an 86 percent increase in judiciary-related legislations and a more than 100 percent rise in the appointment of judicial authority members. Additionally, the General Secretariat completed eight internal development projects and supported 17 projects in collaboration with judicial authority entities, including the Dubai Judicial Inspection Authority's development project and the establishment of an Inheritance Court.

Dr. Abdullah Saif Al-Sabousi, Secretary-General of the Dubai Judicial Council, emphasized the General Secretariat's commitment to providing robust support to judicial entities. He highlighted the focus on developing procedures and legislative frameworks to manage the Council's operations and enhance collaboration among judicial entities. Dr. Al-Sabousi expressed gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Maktoum for his support and to Council members for their collaboration.

The meeting was attended by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Judicial Council; Chancellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan, Attorney General of Dubai; Dr. Saif Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Director-General of Dubai Courts; Dr. Abdullah Saif Al-Sabousi, and other members of the Dubai Judicial Council.
