Manchester: Manchester City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak is confident the football team will be back competing for the game's biggest prizes next season after a challenging 2024/25 campaign.
According to Emirates News Agency, after enjoying remarkable success in recent years, including a Treble in 2022/23 and a record four consecutive Premier League titles, Manchester City concluded this season with only the Community Shield. In an interview published on the club's website, Al Mubarak acknowledged that City fell short of their usual standards but expressed confidence in the team's return to contention for silverware next season. He emphasized that the club is targeting several new signings this summer to revamp Pep Guardiola's squad ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup starting on June 14.
Al Mubarak stated, "We will be back. This season is a season that's now behind us. Today is a new day. We start working and preparing for next season. And by the way, we've been doing that since January. And we will take all the good things and the not so good things from this season and learn from it and improve from it and get better."
During City's final game of the season at Fulham, which ended with a 2-0 victory, Al Mubarak observed a renewed determination among the players to return stronger after the post-season break. He noted that players like Rodri and Erling Haaland are eager to get back to training, with some even foregoing vacation time to prepare for the upcoming season.
"We're going to come back strong, with a lot of positivity," Al Mubarak said, highlighting his optimistic outlook. He also mentioned ongoing discussions with key figures within the club, including Ferran Soriano, Txiki Begiristain, Pep Guardiola, and Hugo Viana, to ensure the team's readiness for the next chapter.
