The Saudi Falcons Club concluded the 2024 Melwah Racing event at its headquarters in Malham, north of Riyadh. The six-day competition featured 287 falcons from 176 falconers, with SAR 750,000 in prizes awarded to 30 winners.
Melwah Racing is a significant event for Saudi falconers, serving as a qualifier for the Saudi Falcons Club Cup (November 13-20 in Hafar Al-Batin), the King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival (November 28-December 14), and the AlUla Falconry Cup (February 9-15, 2025).
The club aims to preserve and promote Saudi cultural heritage, support related activities, enable falconers to practice their hobby, and encourage skill development. By participating in local and international festivals, falconers can share their experiences with others.
In Melwah Racing, falcons compete in a 200-meter race. The top five winners receive cash prizes totaling SAR 100,000 for each round, with SAR 30,000 for first place, SAR 25,000 for second, SAR 20,000 for third, SAR 15,000 for fourth, and SAR 10,000 for fifth. Fa
lconers placing sixth through tenth receive SAR 5,000 each.
