Meteorology: Heavy to very heavy thunderstorms in coming hours


The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning expects heavy to very heavy thunderstorms and varying intensity in several provinces during the next 24 hours.

The center stated in its weather bulletin, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that it expects heavy to very heavy thunderstorms accompanied by descending winds and hail sometimes in the Sa’ada, Hajjah, Al Mahwit, Amran, Sana’a, Raymah, Dhamar, Ibb, Taiz, Al Dhale’, northern Lahj, Al Bayda provinces, the western coasts, reaching the plain and highlands of Tihama.

It indicated the possibility of varying intensity of rain accompanied by thunder in parts of Al Mahrah, Hadhramaut, Shabwa, Marib, Al Jawf provinces and the coasts of the provinces of Abyan, Aden and Lahj.

The center called on citizens not to be in valleys and flood paths during and after rainfall, warning of thunderstorms sometimes accompanied by hail, of rock , mud collapses on mountain slopes and mud houses.

It warned of low horizontal visibility due to r
ainfall and dense low clouds on mountain roads, and of strong descending winds that stir up dust , sand in coastal and desert areas.

The center called on the relevant official authorities to take the necessary measures and procedures to protect lives

, property and follow up on the bulletins and reports issued by it
