The Ministry of Culture has released its fifth annual “Report on the State of Culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”, a valuable resource for those interested in understanding the Kingdom’s cultural scene.
The 2023 report, titled “Sustainability in the Cultural Sector”, provided a comprehensive overview of the Kingdom’s cultural landscape in the previous year, highlighting key developments, achievements, and challenges.
The report is divided into six chapters: management and preservation, creativity and cultural production, knowledge and skills, cultural participation, creative economy, and sustainability in the cultural sector.
Sustainability in culture entails efforts to protect heritage, enhance economic viability, and promote inclusive participation.
Since it was first published, in 2019, the report has been instrumental in tracking the cultural sector’s contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
By providing a structured analysis of challenges, achievements, and the interconnected
ness of various cultural sectors, the report aims to create a knowledge base that informs future cultural policies and initiatives.
