ABU DHABI: The Ministry of Economy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ADNOC to integrate data and enhance the digital transformation of the National Economic Register, known as the ‘Growth’ platform. This collaboration aims to broaden the Ministry’s partnership base and improve digital connectivity between the two organizations.
According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed by Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi, Assistant Undersecretary for Entrepreneurship and the Economic Affairs Regulatory Sector at the Ministry of Economy, and Dr. Saleh Al Hashimi, Director of ADNOC’s Commercial and ICV Directorate. The signing event took place during the inaugural ‘Abu Dhabi Business Week’ at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from December 4 to 6, 2024.
Al Nuaimi stated that the collaboration supports the Ministry’s efforts to enhance digital integration through the ‘Growth’ platform. This initiative is seen as a significant step in boosting the country’s digital infrastructure, aligning with t
he national vision ‘We the UAE 2031,’ which aims to make the country a leader in digital systems. Al Nuaimi emphasized the strategic importance of data in supporting sustainable development and enhancing the national economy’s competitiveness.
He added that the partnership aims to improve data quality and develop innovative mechanisms for effective data analysis and utilization. This will enhance operational efficiency and demonstrate a commitment to global standards. The collaboration underscores the importance of cooperation between government and private sectors.
The MoU seeks to enhance digital connectivity and establish a framework for information exchange, data collection, and statistical efficiency. The agreement will also facilitate the integration of databases and encourage the sharing of expertise and successful experiences, contributing to the development of work teams’ skills on both sides.
The Ministry of Economy launched the National Economic Register in early October as the most comprehensiv
e database for commercial licenses in the UAE, standardizing business procedures and requirements. The ‘Growth’ platform connects over 46 entities and includes the Unified Economic Number (ERN), linking data between federal and local government entities and licensing authorities. This platform enables users to access information on any commercial license in the country, covering over 2,000 economic activities, and supports more flexible electronic transactions.
