Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms Yemen’s solidarity with people of Niger and their right to self-determination

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the solidarity of the people and Government of the Republic of Yemen with the Niger’s people and their natural and legitimate right to self-determination and the building of an independent State.

In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the Ministry blessed the Niger people’s struggles for their freedom and independence and the restoration of all their rights.

The statement called on all Governments and free peoples to support Niger and its aggrieved people in their free orientations to rid themselves of French colonialism, which had deprived that country of its wealth and left it to poverty, want and deprivation for decades.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called on the Government of Paris to respect the will of the Niger, expressing its strong condemnation of France’s shameful determination to break the will of the Niger people.

The French Ambassador’s stay in Niamey and his failure to leave the Niger territory after the deadline granted by the military junta had revealed Paris’s insistence on disguising the will of the Niger people and its desire to continue to rob the wealth of a people who were starving and sick, to which France should be deeply ashamed.

The statement pointed out that France, which had a black colonial history, had not preached the lessons of history and had not yet absorbed the fact that the policies of colonialism, trusteeship and domination of peoples were too late and that it was crucial to recognize the imperative of leaving the brunette continent.

The statement concluded by calling on the international community to respect peoples’ right to self-determination, sovereignty of States and non-interference in their internal affairs, as guaranteed by all international norms and instruments.
