DUBAI: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, has given the green light to a comprehensive five-year plan for internal roads scheduled from 2025 to 2029. This plan includes 21 projects spanning 12 residential, commercial, and industrial areas, comprising a total of 634 km of new roads with an investment of AED 3.7 billion. The initiative reflects the commitment of His Highness to enhancing infrastructure in line with Dubai’s population growth and urban development, aiming to improve the quality of life for residents.

According to Emirates News Agency, Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, outlined that the Five-Year Internal Roads Development Plan targets areas with urbanization rates between 30% and 80%. In 2025, the plan will see the construction of internal roads in Nad El Sheba 3 and Al Amardi, supporting the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment p
roject, which includes 482 housing units. Additional projects in Hatta will support another housing establishment project with 100 units. In 2026, 92 km of internal roads will be built in Nadd Hessa and Al Awir 1. The following year, 45 km of roads will be developed in Al Athbah, Mushrif, and Hatta, alongside 14 km in Warsan 3 (Industrial Area).

In 2028, the plan features one of the longest internal road projects, spanning 284 km across Al Awir 1, Wadi Al Amardi, and Hind 3. This includes 221 km in Al Awir 1, 22 km in Wadi Al Amardi, and 41 km in Hind 3. Construction efforts will persist in 2029, with 200 km of roads planned for Hind 4 and Al Yalayis 5, including 39 km in Hind 4 and 161 km in Al Yalayis 5, as explained by Al Tayer.

Al Tayer emphasized RTA’s dedication to providing smooth and safe access for residents and visitors. By the end of the previous year, the total length of roads completed in residential and industrial areas reached 6000 km. Since 2011, internal roads have been paved in 28 resident
ial and industrial areas. In 2023 and 2024, RTA constructed 83 km of internal roads across 17 areas, completing projects in Al Warqa 4, Al Qusais Industrial, Margham, Lehbab, Al Lisaili, and Hatta (Suhaila, Saeir, and Al Salami). Ongoing road works are underway in Jebel Ali Industrial, Nazwa, the Tolerance District in Al Khawaneej 2, Al Warqa, Nad Al Sheba 1, and Al Awir.
