Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, is set to honour the six winners of the Great Arab Minds Award 2025 on Thursday at the Museum of the Future in Dubai. The ceremony, marking the third edition of the largest award of its kind in the Arab world, will see attendance from the winners' families, academics, diplomats, and specialists from various sectors.
According to Emirates News Agency, the event will also be attended by members of the Higher Committee of the Great Arab Minds Initiative, the Nominations Committee, and the specialised committees for each of the award's six categories. The ceremony is expected to receive extensive coverage from local, Arab, regional, and international media.
During the ceremony, six distinguished individuals will be honoured for their contributions in their respective fields: Professor Majid Chergui in Natural Sciences, Professor Abbas El Gamal in Engineering and Technology, Dr Nabil Seidah in Medicine, Professor Badi Hani in Economics, Dr Suad Amiry in Architecture and Design, and Professor Charbel Dagher in Literature and Arts.
The Great Arab Minds Award, often referred to as the "Arab Nobel," aims to encourage recipients to continue their contributions to scientific, cultural, and creative fields. It also serves as an inspiration for Arab youth, presenting them with leading examples in various sectors and encouraging them to contribute to the region's development and human civilisation.
The Museum of the Future, serving as the official headquarters of the Great Arab Minds Initiative, will host the ceremony for the third consecutive year. The museum is home to a permanent research and knowledge centre that supports the award recipients by expanding the reach and impact of their work.
The initiative reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to recognise pioneers and innovators who contribute to the advancement of Arab societies and humanity. Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Higher Committee of the initiative, emphasised the significance of honouring Great Arab Minds as a recognition of Arab achievement in knowledge, science, and creativity.
Al Gergawi stated that the initiative, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, is the most comprehensive strategic initiative of its kind, highlighting and encouraging investments in Arab research, innovation, and intellectual output. He added that the initiative continues to spotlight distinguished Arab figures who inspire young people across the Arab world to turn ideas into reality and strengthen Arab participation in global development.
