Moroccan Minister of Higher Education lauds Khalifa Award’s mission, role in advancing education


Abdul Latif Al-Mirawi, Morocco’s Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, has expressed pride in the strong cooperation between educational and academic institutions in the UAE and Morocco.

He noted that these relations reflect the unique and historical status of the long-standing relations between the two sisterly nations, marked by continuous progress and prosperity across all sectors.

Minister Al-Mirawi also commended the Khalifa Award for Education for its pivotal role in advancing education at local, regional, and international levels through its visionary initiatives.

His remarks were made during a reception for a delegation from the General Secretariat of the Award at his office in Rabat. The delegation included Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, a member of the Khalifa Award for Education’s Board of Trustees; Amal Al Afeefi, Secretary-General of the Award; Dr. Suad Al Suwaidi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Award; Dr. Khalid Al Abri, a member of the Award’s Executive Committee; a
nd Hamid Ibrahim, a member of the Award’s Executive Committee.

At the meeting, Al Dhaheri highlighted that since its launch in 2007, the Award has enriched the educational environment in the UAE, the Arab world, and globally by promoting a culture of excellence.

Al-Afeefi noted the Award’s appreciation for the exceptional contributions of teachers, university professors, and community organisations, and acknowledged Morocco’s participation and success in various editions of the Award. She also expressed gratitude for Minister Al-Mirawi’s support in promoting the Award and broadening awareness of its categories for the upcoming 18th session in 2024-2025.

Dr. Al Suwaidi gave a presentation of the current session’s fields, with a special focus on the Higher Education category, which celebrates distinguished contributions by university professors, academics, and researchers. Other fields include Educational Research, Educational Authorship for Children, and Innovative Educational Projects and Programmes.

Al Abri emphasised that the Award offers a wide range of categories, inviting talented educators, administrators, and researchers to participate and showcase their creative initiatives that can serve as models in the educational field.

Ibrahim highlighted the Award’s focus on integrating advanced technology and artificial intelligence in education, noting that AI plays a key role in evaluating candidates’ projects. He encouraged participants to employ innovative technologies and launch initiatives that align with the evolving needs of the education sector.

The meeting concluded with the delegation presenting the Award shield to the Minister in appreciation of his efforts in supporting the Award’s journey.
