Dubai: Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, recently attended the 15th graduation ceremony of Canadian University Dubai (CUD) at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event, which celebrated the achievements of the ‘Class of Pride and Glory’, was held in the presence of notable figures including Buti Saeed Al Kandari, Chancellor and Chairman of the University Board of Trustees, and Professor Karim Chelli, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University, along with Board members, staff, parents, and graduates.
According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Nahyan highlighted the UAE’s commitment under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to strengthen the nation’s global standing by investing in education, empowering youth, and fostering an innovation-based society. He emphasized the crucial role of universities in preparing future generations to contribute to national development.
During the ceremony, Sheikh Nahyan awarded certificates to 600 graduates from various schools of the university, marking the institution’s 20th anniversary in Dubai. The graduates hailed from disciplines such as Management, Health Sciences, Digital Innovation, Communication, Creative Industries, Engineering, Architecture, and Psychology. The ‘Class of Pride and Glory’ was named to reflect the UAE’s achievements and the graduates’ potential to drive future progress.
In his address, Sheikh Nahyan reiterated that education is fundamental to societal advancement and that investing in young talent is key to a sustainable future. He praised Canadian University Dubai for its role over the past two decades in fostering a culture of education, creativity, and cultural openness, preparing graduates to serve their communities.
Sheikh Nahyan further noted the importance of continuous learning in a rapidly changing world influenced by technology, economics, and sustainability. He urged graduates to view education as a lifelong journey and to remain adaptable and committed to self-development. He also stressed the role of universities in promoting humanitarian values and building character alongside academic knowledge.
He commended the UAE’s leadership for its dedication to providing an advanced educational environment that embraces innovation and diversity. Sheikh Nahyan encouraged graduates to carry the values of tolerance, coexistence, and cultural respect into their future endeavors, highlighting the UAE’s model of cultural diversity as a strength.
Concluding his speech, Sheikh Nahyan expressed appreciation for the efforts of the university’s leadership and faculty in building an exceptional educational institution.
