Kathmandu: Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) reported on Wednesday that the number of people missing following the floods that struck an area along the Nepal-China border in late August has risen to 6,150. This figure marks an increase of nearly 1,000 from the previous day.

According to Emirates News Agency, the authority revealed that the number of missing individuals increased from 5,179 to 6,150 after a comprehensive update and verification of the data. The floods and subsequent landslides significantly impacted northern Nepal, particularly Rasuwa along the border with China, resulting in a substantial loss of life and widespread damage to infrastructure.

The NDRRMA added that 1,403 bodies have been recovered so far, with 105 identified. Authorities remain engaged in search and rescue operations, as well as the recovery of victims. Efforts to update and verify missing-person data from affected areas are ongoing.
