Kalba: Of Land and Water marks the inaugural presentation of the Sharjah Art Foundation collection on the east coast of Sharjah. The exhibition features rarely seen large-scale works by nine international artists and collectives and will be open to the public from 17 October 2025 to 31 May 2026 at the Kalba Ice Factory in Kalba.
According to Emirates News Agency, the exhibition raises thought-provoking questions about the influence of borders and ideologies on open landscapes and seas, as well as their impact on the people who inhabit these areas. It explores themes of attachment and detachment to places, and examines how ways of living and knowledge can transcend borders without being restricted by race or political ideologies, much like the natural movements of winds and tides.
Curated by Jiwon Lee, Head of Curatorial, along with Curatorial Assistants Abdulla Aljanahi and Amal Al Ali, the exhibition represents a collaborative effort involving the expertise of Souraya Kreidieh and Shahd Murshed from the Collection Department.
