OIC Marks World Refugee Day

Jeddah, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha reiterated the OIC’s support and solidarity with refugees and emphasized the urgent need to prioritize the humanitarian needs of this vulnerable group forced to flee their homes due to wars, conflicts, and natural disasters.

In a statement released today to mark World Refugee Day, observed annually on June 20, Taha expressed deep gratitude and admiration towards OIC member states for their efforts in providing refuge to displaced individuals. He urged the international community to stand in support of these member states and emphasized the importance of establishing equitable partnerships.

Taha emphasized the pivotal role played by the United Na
tions Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in alleviating the suffering of Palestinian refugees. He called upon the international community to exert concerted efforts to halt all legal and humanitarian violations and hold the Israeli occupation accountable for its continuous disregard of fundamental international laws and norms.
