OIC to hold extraordinary meeting Monday to address Quran desecration

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) announced on Thursday that a ministerial extraordinary meeting of the organization would be held on Monday to address the issue of recurring desecration of the Quran.

The OIC Secretariat General said in a statement that the virtual meeting would be held in response to a request by Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

The ministerial meeting will be held in line with the final statement of the executive committee, held in Jeddah on July 2 regarding recurring burning of copies of the Quran.

Copies of the Quran have been repeatedly burned in some European countries recently challenging sentiments of millions of Muslims worldwide. Governments of Arab and Muslim states have decried the brazen attack on the sacred book.
