Paris 2024 Olympics: Qatari Sprinter Ammar Ismail Sets New Personal Best in 400m Heats, to Compete in Repechage Tomorrow

Qatari sprinter Ammar Ismail secured fourth place in his group during the 400-meter heats, clocking a new personal best of 44.66 seconds, on Sunday, at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Ammar Ismail’s new personal record qualified him for the World Championships in Tokyo 2025. He will compete Monday, in the repechage round to qualify for the semifinals.

Previously, Ismail won the gold medal in the 400-meter sprint at the Kazakhstan Bronze Athletics Tour in June, setting a new personal record of 45.03 seconds.

He also claimed the gold medal in the 400-meter sprint at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in February 2023 in Kazakhstan, with a time of 46.25 seconds.

Notably, Qatari athletics achieved gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics through Mutaz Barshim in the high jump, and aims to secure more achievements in the Paris Olympics.
