Pharmacists Syndicate organizes event on occasion of National Day of Pharmacists

The Yemeni Pharmacists Syndicate, in cooperation with the Faculty of Pharmacy at Sana’a University, and the Supreme Authority for Drugs and Medical Appliances, organized on Wednesday an event on the occasion of the National Day of Pharmacists, under the slogan (The nation’s medicine in victory for its first cause – Palestine).

At the event, the Minister of Public Health and Population in the caretaker government, Dr. Taha Al-Mutawakel, considered this event a station to evaluate performance, raise the level and discuss the difficulties and challenges facing pharmacists and the pharmaceutical sector.

He stressed the need to hold evaluation workshops to shed light on the reality of medicine, especially in light of the challenges imposed by the aggression and the prevention of the entry of medicines, especially life-saving ones, and the exit of international companies from Yemen.

Minister Al-Mutawakel urged everyone to stand against the phenomenon of smuggling medicines and prevent their sale in pharmacies, p
raising the efforts of the Supreme Authority in combating smuggling with the relevant authorities.

He touched on the efforts made to improve the pharmaceutical sector, pointing out that there are two laws on pharmacy, medicine and clinical trials before the House of Representatives, pointing to a number of projects carried out by the Supreme Authority for Drugs at the level of supervision and follow-up of the drug market, equipping the national pharmaceutical laboratory and bioequivalence, automating the authority’s work and launching its electronic portal.

He noted the cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the Faculty of Pharmacy at Sana’a University, pointing to the need for rehabilitation and training for cadres, whether at the university or through the Yemeni Board for Medical Specializations.

The Minister of Health in the caretaker government denounced the vicious and cowardly attack of the Zionist enemy, the assassination of the head of Hamas’ political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, as well as the
attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut and other terrorist crimes of the Zionist enemy.

He pointed to Yemen’s religious and humanitarian stance in supporting the Palestinian brothers who are subjected to war crimes of genocide in the Gaza Strip by the Zionist entity in light of a clear international and regional failure.

For his part, Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Mutahar Al-Marwani touched on the role of pharmacists in enhancing patient care and providing proper drug consultations.

He reviewed the progress of the health sector despite the current circumstances that the Yemen is going through, stressing the need for concerted efforts, especially from cadres working in pharmaceutical medicine, towards taking into account the conditions of patients.

He condemned the assassination of the Israeli enemy, the head of Hamas’ political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, as well as the targeting of the southern suburbs of Beirut and all crimes and the war of extermination against the Palestinian people.
