Ras Al Khaimah: In the presence of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, and the UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade and President of the Board of Trade, the Rt Hon Jonathan Reynolds MP, Ras Al Khaimah has signed a growth partnership agreement with the UK Government to explore opportunities for trade and industry collaboration and to expand both parties’ strong existing links into other areas, such as education, culture, and heritage.
According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement between Ras Al Khaimah’s Investment and Development Office (IDO) and the UK Government’s Department of Business and Trade was signed by Sheikh Khalid bin Saud Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of the IDO, and His Excellency Oliver Christian, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for the Middle East and Pakistan and His Majesty’s Consul General to Dubai and the Northern Emirates. The agreement specifies t
hat the parties aim to encourage and explore opportunities for cooperation in industrial growth and to facilitate trade between the UK and Ras Al Khaimah.
Sheikh Khalid bin Saud Al Qasimi emphasized the importance of the agreement, noting that it marks a milestone in Ras Al Khaimah’s commitment to building international partnerships that drive economic growth and innovation. He expressed optimism that the collaboration would not only enhance trade relations but also foster multifaceted exchanges that benefit both economies and enrich communities.
The UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Jonathan Reynolds MP, highlighted the significance of the memorandum of understanding, which he believes will pave the way for industrial cooperation and capitalize on the historic relationship between the UK and the UAE. He affirmed the agreement as evidence of the vast opportunities available for British businesses in the Northern Emirates.
The agreement identifies several sectors for potential collaboration, inc
luding investment, education, culture, and heritage, with a particular focus on trade. It also proposes the establishment of a joint business incubator in Ras Al Khaimah to support UK companies’ expansion into the UAE and Middle East markets.
Furthermore, the agreement outlines a mutual desire to explore collaboration on major development projects in Ras Al Khaimah, dialogue on food security and agricultural strategies, support for Ras Al Khaimah roadshows in the UK, and cooperation in arts, culture, and education.
