Regional and local elections, along with by-elections for the Russian State Duma (parliament), began today.
From 6th to 8th September, approximately 74,500 candidates representing 20 political parties are competing in 83 out of 89 Russian regions across various levels to fill over 35,000 seats in legislative and executive bodies.
Direct elections for the leaders of Russia’s constituent entities are being held in 21 regions, while legislative council elections are taking place in 13 regions, including the capital, Moscow. Additionally, by-elections for the State Duma are being conducted in three electoral districts.
