Dubai: Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the opening of registration for the 14th edition of the Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport 2026. This award is a key initiative in the Middle East and North Africa aimed at promoting sustainable transport solutions.
According to Emirates News Agency, the award underscores RTA's dedication to sustainability and innovation. It is designed to motivate various stakeholders, including government and semi-government entities, private sector organizations, universities, schools, researchers, and experts, to embrace sustainable mobility solutions. The award also aims to foster positive competition, recognize exemplary practices, and support cross-sector partnerships, aligning with sustainable development goals across Dubai and the wider region.
The Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport features four main categories: Elite, Sustainability, Inclusivity, and Innovation. Each category is crafted to highlight leading practices and innovative solutions within the sustainable transport sector. The Elite category is the highest honor, selected by a jury based on specific criteria, without requiring a separate submission. The Sustainability category includes awards for pioneering sustainable cities, outstanding sustainable fleets, clean energy for mobility, and urban changemakers.
The Inclusivity category recognizes achievements in urban flow improvement, safe transport, first and last mile solutions, and transport for all. The Innovation category awards the best innovation in transport, outstanding student solutions for school students under 18, and NextGen for Mobility for university and PhD students.
The registration opening is part of RTA's comprehensive development process, which includes restructuring award categories, introducing new awards, and increasing the total number of awards to 12. This expansion aims to enhance the award's inclusiveness, extend its impact, and consolidate its position as a prominent platform in the sustainable mobility sector in the UAE and the region.
