New york: World number one Aryna Sabalenka retained her US Open crown with a 6-3, 7-6(3) win over American eighth seed Amanda Anisimova in the US Open women’s final, asserting her status as a dominant force on the hardcourt.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Belarusian has consistently reached hardcourt major finals since 2022. Her recent victory at the US Open marks her fourth Grand Slam title, making her the first woman to achieve consecutive US Open wins since Serena Williams, who won three times consecutively from 2012 to 2014.
The match, featuring two of tennis’s most powerful hitters and servers, was ultimately decided by unforced errors. Sabalenka managed to limit her errors to 15, while Anisimova committed 29, a factor that played a significant role in the outcome of the final.
