Abu dhabi: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), today received Suhair Al Ali, Assistant to the Speaker of the Senate of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Jordanian delegation’s participation in the second edition of the Women Parliamentary Forum (WPF) of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM).
According to Emirates News Agency, the forum is hosted by the UAE and organised by the Federal National Council. It sees participation from speakers of parliaments, parliamentary delegations, and regional and international civil society organisations from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Euro-Mediterranean region.
Ghobash commenced the meeting by welcoming Al Ali and her accompanying delegation, appreciating their participation in the forum. He emphasized the Senate’s commitment to fostering communication with the Federal National Council and working towards enhancing relations between the UAE and Jordan.
Ghobash highlighted the UAE’s pride in its historical relations with Jordan, which are founded on mutual respect and aim to serve the interests of both countries. He underlined the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation, exchanging expertise, and leveraging the legislative experiences of both councils.
Al Ali, on her part, affirmed the strong and deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two nations, based on enduring principles and mutual respect. She noted that the leadership of both countries is committed to furthering these ties across political, economic, and parliamentary fields.
