Secretary General of Abu Dhabi Peace Forum named chairman of committee on role of religions, civil society in field of AI

A committee exploring the role of religions and civil society in the field of artificial intelligence was announced yesterday in London’s Central Hall Westminster. Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum Shaikh Al-Mahfouz bin Bayyah was appointed as the committee’s chairman.

This announcement followed a meeting of religious and civil society leaders on artificial intelligence, organised by the Good Faith Partnership-UK in collaboration with the UK government. The meeting aimed to implement the outcomes of the November’s AI Safety Summit, which was chaired by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak

The meeting emphasised the need to foster collaboration among diverse societal leaders to strengthen research on the long-term impact of artificial intelligence on faith communities and civil society. The participants highlighted the importance of anchoring scientific progress in the field by upholding human dignity, promoting peace, and fostering a meaningful life for all.
