Abu dhabi: As part of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) plans to enhance the water security system and improve the efficiency and sustainability of the water networks in Khorfakkan, the authority is continuing the implementation of a project to construct two new reservoirs at the SEWA 1 and SEWA 2 stations, with a storage capacity of 2 million gallons each, at a total cost of AED 28.23 million.

According to Emirates News Agency, Engineer Saud Abdul Aziz, Director of the Khorfakkan Department at SEWA, explained that the project aims to support the water storage and distribution system. He highlighted that the initiative will contribute to doubling the storage capacity at the two stations, enhancing the network's flexibility and increasing its ability to meet growing demand, thus supporting the continuity and efficiency of water supplies under all circumstances.

He emphasized that the Authority is intensifying its efforts to complete the project, as the two reservoirs are expected to be put into service by the end of 2026, ahead of the scheduled contractual delivery date in March 2027. This advancement is projected to become an important contributor to the water system in the city of Khorfakkan, aligning with the Authority's ongoing plans to develop infrastructure and raise its operational efficiency.
