Sharjah Chess Club Crowned Men’s General Chess League Champion

Sharjah: The Sharjah Cultural Chess Club emerged victorious in the Men's General Chess League after a thrilling final round held on Saturday at the club's hall, as organized by the Chess Federation.

According to Emirates News Agency, the final round showcased fierce competition among three clubs: Sharjah, Dubai Chess Club, and Fujairah Chess Club, all contending for the prestigious title. With this triumph, the Sharjah Club has secured its participation in the Arab Clubs Championship, following the league regulations.

Sharjah Club claimed the championship with an impressive 9 points. Meanwhile, the Dubai Chess Club secured the runner-up position with 7 points, and the Fujairah Chess Club took third place with 6 points, tying with Abu Dhabi, which finished in fourth place. Sharjah Academy came in fifth with 2 points, while Advanced Chess Academy concluded the league without scoring any points.

This season marked a significant development as academies joined the league for the first time, introducing players under 14 years old into the men's competition. Notably, the league featured Grandmaster Bassem Amin, the world's top-ranked Arab player, who represented the Sharjah team in the rounds held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
