Sharjah Crown Prince Establishes Higher Committee for Digital Integration

Sharjah: H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council has issued a decree for the formation of the Higher Committee for Digital Integration in the Emirate of Sharjah. This newly established committee will report to and operate under the supervision of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah.

According to Emirates News Agency, the decree outlines the leadership and composition of the committee. Sheikh Saud bin Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director-General of the Sharjah Digital Department, will chair the committee. The members include prominent figures such as Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, and several other key stakeholders from various government departments and sectors.

The Higher Committee for Digital Integration aims to align its efforts with Sharjah’s Digital Transformation Strategy. It is tasked with ensuring effective implementation and continuous monitoring of the emirate’s digital transformation journey. The committee’s responsibilities include establishing strong governance, enhancing cooperation among government entities, reducing risks, and accelerating progress to ensure the optimal application of the digital transformation strategy.

The decree further specifies that the committee will be responsible for strategic oversight and high-level decision-making to ensure the optimal implementation of the digital transformation strategy. It will also ensure alignment and cooperation among government entities, approve key digital policies, frameworks, and strategies, and monitor the progress of joint government digital initiatives.

Additionally, the committee will track performance against strategic objectives and intervene when needed, address cross-sector challenges, oversee investment decisions related to digital initiatives, and promote cooperation among government entities to ensure integration and prevent duplication. It will also handle any other responsibilities assigned by the Executive Council.

The committee is mandated to submit reports on its activities, challenges, and recommended solutions to the Executive Council for appropriate decisions. Membership of the committee is set for two years, with the possibility of extension, and members may continue their work even after their term ends until a new committee is formed.

The decree also includes legal provisions concerning the committee’s meetings, facilitation of its tasks, enforcement, and publication.
