Sharjah has successfully brought Arab, Emirati cultures to the world: UAE Ambassador to Italy

Omar Obaid Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Italy, has emphasised that Sharjah’s participation as Guest of Honour in the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2022 has further enhanced the cultural relations between the UAE and Italy. Al Shamsi lauded Sharjah for successfully showcasing the culture and heritage of the UAE and Arab region, to nations worldwide.

He congratulated H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for successfully leading the cultural project that has enabled the world to experience and appreciate UAE and Arab culture.

The statement was made during an official visit to the Sharjah pavilion at the book fair, where Al Shamsi was received by Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority. The ambassador, Al Shamsi, toured the pavilion where he learned more about Sharjah’s role at the book fair, including its literary and cultural offerings, and exhibitions.

He noted that the popularity of Sharjah’s offerings at the book fair is testament to the success of its vision in building bridges of understanding and cross-cultural dialogue through books, literature, heritage and arts.

During the tour, Al Shamsi learned about the various publications on display by Sharjah’s cultural entities including magazines, books and literary translations.

The ambassador also visited the Arabic calligraphy exhibition, which showcased the works of renowned Arab and Emirati calligraphers, and joined the book fair’s audience to watch a Emirati dance and music performance.
