Sharjah Ruler Amends Law on Sharjah Museums Authority

Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued a Decree-Law amending Law No. (7) of 2020 concerning the organisation of the Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA). The Decree-Law outlines changes in the leadership structure of the Authority, specifying that it shall be headed by a Chairman appointed by an Emiri Decree.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Decree-Law also provides for the appointment of a Director-General by an Emiri Decree. The Director-General will be supported by a sufficient number of employees and experts following the Authority's organisational structure. This role comes with the necessary powers to manage the Authority's affairs and make decisions to achieve its objectives. Among the powers granted, the Director-General can propose the general policy and strategy of the Authority, draft laws and bylaws, supervise operations, and prepare the annual budget.

The Director-General is also empowered to form committees and working teams, represent the Authority in various capacities, sign agreements, and seek support from other government entities. Additionally, the Director-General has the authority to delegate responsibilities to Authority employees as per existing legislation in the Emirate. The responsibilities further extend to undertaking any tasks assigned by the Chairman of the Authority.
