Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, attended the graduation ceremony of the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (SPAA) at the University of the Art Sharjah on Sunday morning. The event celebrated the graduation of 52 students at the university theatre.
According to Emirates News Agency, His Highness was received by key figures including H.H. Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the University of the Art Sharjah; Sheikha Nawar bint Ahmed Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation; and Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Head of the Protocol and Hospitality Department. The ceremony commenced with the UAE national anthem, followed by a musical performance by students, showcasing the skills they honed during their academic journey.
Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi addressed the attendees, expressing pride in the graduating class and highlighting the strategic integration of SPAA with the College of Arts and Design. She emphasized Sharjah's commitment to investing in its people and fostering a nurturing environment under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, which has positioned the emirate as a global hub for creativity and innovation.
Dr. Peter Barlow, Director of SPAA, spoke about the academy's achievements, including the introduction of unique academic programs and hosting international events. He highlighted the establishment of the University of the Art Sharjah as a significant step in specialized arts education that supports innovation and broadens learning opportunities.
Actress Yasmina El Abd, the guest of honor, congratulated the graduates and underscored the importance of performing arts in personal and professional development. She praised the faculty for their support and encouraged graduates to pursue their dreams with resilience and creativity.
Several graduates shared their experiences, expressing gratitude for the education and training they received. They emphasized art's role in fostering dialogue and cultural exchange, and their commitment to using their skills for positive societal impact.

Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi presented certificates to the graduates, who included individuals from various specialized programs such as the Master of Fine Arts in Theatre and Live Performance and the Bachelor of Arts in Acting, among others. The ceremony concluded with commemorative photographs and well wishes for the graduates' future endeavors.
