Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, announced in a phone interview on the programme Direct Line the allocation of a new area in Jabal Al Ashkel for the construction of a residential neighbourhood. This area, near the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, will be developed to include hundreds of homes for citizens and will be named 'Al Ashkel Neighbourhood'.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Ruler of Sharjah emphasized that the road leading to Al Rafisah will be paved, and these mountain homes will have distinct features compared to residences overlooking the sea. He assured the residents of Khorfakkan that there is no need to fear a shortage of residential land, despite concerns about the exhaustion of housing in the Al Harray area.
The Ruler announced that there are currently 270 homes under construction in two groups, including 120 homes in Al Mudeife whose plots have already been handed over to the Department of Housing. Furthermore, additional plots in the Al Harray area, previously allocated to holders of commercial licences, are now being transferred to the municipality, with construction expected to take approximately two years.
Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi also mentioned that similar projects are being implemented in the city of Kalba along the ring road, starting from Al Ghayl, then Al Saaf, and Al Tareef. Construction has already commenced in the Al Dahiyat residential neighbourhood.
